Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital Restoration and Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

The April 13, 2025 devastating attack on Al Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital shattered Gaza’s sanctuary of healing—cutting off lifesaving care for the most vulnerable in their darkest times.
Impact on Healthcare Service
The emergency room, lab, pharmacy, ambulance unit, and oxygen system were severely damaged. Critical infrastructure lies in ruins, putting countless lives at risk.
The Human Cost
• A child has died due to care disruption.
• 50 patients were evacuated to other hospitals
• 40 critically ill patients remain, too fragile to move—fighting for survival.
• Al Ahli Baptist Hospital is unable to receive any patients.
Current Status
Despite the danger, 35% of the deployed staff—most of them from PAMA—returned the very next day. These courageous professionals are caring for 44 patients that remain hospitalized. Their dedication is nothing short of heroic.
Our Commitment
PAMA with our partners are working urgently to:
• Restore power, oxygen, and emergency services
• Support our fearless medical teams on the ground
• Target reopening date by May 21, 2025 to restore Al Ahli life saving services.
• Restock essential medicines and equipment

Frequently asked questions

In October 2024, PAMA secured a groundbreaking $3.4 million agreement with the UNDP to restore Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza. This critical two-year project will rehabilitate the hospital's ICU and operating rooms, deploy essential medical staff, and rebuild healthcare services in a region where over 60% of medical facilities have been destroyed.  Historically serving 31,000 outpatients and 4,200 inpatients annually, Al Ahli Arab Hospital will once again provide vital surgery, pediatric care, gynecology, and cancer treatment. Our partnership with the Diocese of Jerusalem and the UNDP represents a beacon of hope in one of the world's most challenging medical landscapes.
